The 3-Day Classic Trek is ideal for adventurers looking for a short but challenging climb, or for those preparing for Kilimanjaro. The route passes through lush forests, heathlands, and volcanic ridges, leading to Socialist Peak (4,566m), with spectacular views of Kilimanjaro floating above the clouds.
Itinerary Details
Day 1 – Arusha to Miriakamba Hut (2,400m)
After arriving in Arusha, you will transfer to the park gate for registration. The trek begins through rainforest and bamboo zones, leading to your first campsite at Miriakamba Hut, where you will enjoy dinner and a briefing for the days ahead.
Day 2 – Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (3,500m)
On the second day, you will trek through lush forests and scenic valleys, observing unique flora and possibly local wildlife. The day concludes at Saddle Hut, where you will rest and acclimatize in preparation for the summit attempt.
Day 3 – Summit Day: Socialist Peak (4,566m) and Descent to Momella Gate
An early pre-dawn start takes you toward Socialist Peak, the highest point of Mount Meru. From the summit, enjoy panoramic views of Kilimanjaro, Meru Crater, and the surrounding plains. After celebrating at the top, descend to Momella Gate and transfer back to Arusha.
